Justice Leak

Are people who give judgments just? How does one know that the Justice who gives judgments are true to their job. What if the judgment of the Supreme Court errs? Are they not human? What if justice was impaired? Is justice good enough for the common man?

Here are some examples. The judgment of the Jaipur high court on the Richard Gere kissing issue mentions that he might be arrested for kissing Shilpa Shetty! Now, wasn’t that too soon to be given a verdict. There are so many cases pending in the court, but yet a kiss that is so trifle an issue got the highest priority and the fastest judgment amazed me! There are so many cases of rape, theft, family feuds, murders etc. etc. to be solved since years, but yet a case of kissing gets a ruling and a judgment with a speed unknown to Indian Judiciary!

Alistair Pereira ran over seven poor people and was meted out a punishment of six months in jail. A ‘lenient’ judgment according to the press. In India, everyone is equal, only some people are more equal. What about the poor people, who live on a hand to mouth scenario every day, every hour? Are they not liable for justice?

Sanjay Dutt has got a light judgment. What if his name was Yusuf Mohammad who was a son of Mohammad, the juice waala? Would he have got a similar judgement? I wonder…
